48 CFR Enters the Final Stage: What This Means For Businesses

The Final Rule Under 48 CFR is in its Final Review!
If you haven't heard the news, the final rule enforcing the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) has officially reached the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). This is a significant milestone toward the full rollout of CMMC.
Once cleared and published in the Federal Register, the phased roll-out will embed CMMC requirements directly into Department of Defense (DoD) contracts and solicitations, affecting thousands of defense suppliers working with Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
What This Means
This is the signal that businesses need to begin scheduling their assessments immediately, or risk finding themselves at the end of a long line. Waiting too long will mean delays, frustration, and potential loss of contracts.
In our last blog post, we shared a strong message from Lockheed Martin, a growing position that requires CMMC certification for inclusion in contracts. This will soon become the norm.
Perhaps in response to this recent update, we are already seeing an increase in traffic and meeting requests as businesses begin to schedule their assessments. This is a wise move, and we encourage leaders to move fast to get ahead of the rush.
