ISO Certified: What It Means and Why It Matters

Written by MNS Group | Aug 7, 2026, 5:52:51 PM

ISO stands for the International Organization for Standardization, an independent, non-governmental body that develops globally recognized standards for how organizations should do things well.

An ISO standard is a documented, internationally agreed-upon best practice. Certification to one isn't simply a logo you buy the rights to use; it's earned.

How To Attain ISO Certification

An accredited, independent auditor examines your processes against the standard, and you keep the certification only by passing regular surveillance audits and full recertification on a recurring cycle. In other words, ISO certification is proof that a third party has verified how you consistently work.

That distinction is why ISO matters. In an industry full of security marketing claims, ISO certification ensures a company can back it up.

MNS Group proudly displays our ISO certifications, but what do they mean?

Here's a short breakdown.

ISO/IEC 27001 - Information Security

ISO 27001 is the world's leading standard for an Information Security Management System (ISMS). It defines how an organization identifies risks to sensitive information and applies the right controls to protect it, and it covers people, processes, and technology.

Certification means we have a documented, risk-based approach to safeguarding data, that those controls are actively managed, and that an independent auditor has confirmed the system works. In practice, that means security risk assessments, risk treatment, access control, incident response, and continual improvement- the same discipline behind our security services.

For our clients, ISO 27001 is one of the strongest signals that we take information security seriously and systematically. It's also what makes our work directly relevant to defense contractors and other regulated organizations: the risk-based framework aligns naturally with CMMC and other compliance requirements, so the discipline we bring to protecting controlled and sensitive data is audit-ready and consistent. It is the same standard we hold ourselves to.

ISO/IEC 20000 - IT Service Management

ISO 20000 is the international standard for IT Service Management (ITSM). Where ISO 27001 is about protecting information, 20000 is about delivering IT services reliably and consistently. This includes incident and request management, change management, service continuity, and continual improvement.

It's closely aligned with widely used ITSM best practices, and certification confirms that our service delivery follows a mature, repeatable framework.

For our managed services clients, that translates into defined service catalogs, structured onboarding, SLA visibility, clear escalation, and regular service reviews, proof that our MSP services aren't ad hoc, but measured and managed.

At MNS Group, security and service quality are inseparable. ISO 20000 is our commitment that the day-to-day services clients depend on are managed to a professional standard.

ISO 9001 - Quality Management

ISO 9001 is the most widely recognized standard in the world for a Quality Management System (QMS). It's industry-agnostic, focusing on consistent quality, customer satisfaction, and continual improvement across everything an organization does.

Certification means that we have defined processes, measure how well we meet requirements, and systematically improve based on what we learn. For our project work, that's the framework behind consistent planning, scope and risk control, corrective action, and lessons learned, so projects are delivered through repeatable controls, not just completed.

ISO 9001 is the foundation the other two build upon. It's the reason our security and service programs aren't static. Instead, they're regularly reviewed, measured, and improved.

All Three, Together

Individually, each standard is meaningful. Together, they reinforce one another: ISO 27001 secures your information, ISO 20000 delivers services reliably, and ISO 9001 keeps the whole operation on the path of continuous improvement.

That integration is what lets us run managed services, security work, and project delivery through one audited, accountable system.
